Middle School Camps
Open to students entering 7th-8th grade
Morning Camps $370 per session
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Session 1: June 16 – 27
Session 2: June 30 – July 11 (July 4 holiday)
Our Middle School Academic Camps draw students from over 50 schools in the Bay Area and provide an opportunity for you to make new friends, meet Saint Francis teachers, and explore our campus while you develop your academic or artistic skills.
Our intention is to spark interest and encourage experiential learning opportunities, not for grade-level remediation. The camp curriculum is repeated in the second session, so please do not register for two sessions of the same camp.
Note that sessions 1 and 2 listed below for both our morning and afternoon classes repeat; please do not sign your child up for both sessions.

The musical theater camp helps you develop your acting, dancing, and singing skills in a high-energy environment with our drama director and current Saint Francis students. Students participate in a drama showcase production at the conclusion of camp.

This captivating and exciting art workshop focuses on three-dimensional construction using clay. We will explore “Modern Art” and learn skills such as slab-rolling and throwing on the potters wheel. Each student will create unique pieces of art and use decorative glazes to finish them.
High School Entrance Exam Prep: Session 1 & 2

This class prepares students for the high school entrance exam for Catholic high schools (HSPT). Students learn what to expect on the exam, review the material covered on the exam, and discover and how to apply testing strategies during the exam.

This course will be a basic introduction to the solar system. We will investigate the formation of the solar system, examine the funadamental characteristics of each planet, and discuss the fate of Pluto.
Photography: Session 1

Digital Photography will cover the basic principles of photography and explain the three building blocks of light, time and subject. Students will explore the many artistic choices you make when you take a photograph. They will learn about cameras, lenses and filters, and finally, how to bring the photograph into Photoshop, enhance it, prepare it for printing, and print it.

This hands-on, experiential learning camp will explore the interaction of software and hardware to create a bot that can make predictable decisions based on dynamic inputs. Students will use prefabricated hardware such as light sensors, motion sensors, and motors to learn basic algorithm and lab skills to test their designs.

This course is focused on expository and creative writing. Utilizing literary excerpts, students will hone their grammar skills, perfect the paragraph structure, and develop their thesis and essay writing expertise. The creative projects will inspire imagination and encourage self-expression. Editing and revising will be stressed as integral parts of the writing process. Students will have time to work in class, but minimal amounts of homework may be required.
