September 1, 2010 - Solomente Google for E-mail
We have disabled access to the old e-mail system. Access to it is by request only. Contact techserv@sfhs.com if you need access.
August 24, 2010 - Migration Complete, Old System to go offline Sept 1, 2010
School has resumed. Teachers and students have had opportunity to review the old and new e-mail systems and to migrate data if needed. All services appear to be working on the new servers. The time has come to turn off the old e-mail system. Your last day to login to the Novell e-mail system and review messages or contacts will be August 31, 2010. Contact techserv@sfhs.com if you have any questions about the final transition.
July 7, 2010 - Single Sign-On installed
Great News! Google Apps/E-mail logins have been integrated with our campus infrastructure. What this means is that you use the same password to access your e-mail as you would to login to any computer on campus. This also means that when you change your e-mail password you are changing your password to login to computers on campus and to Angel.
July 4, 2010 - Happy Independence Day UPDATE:
Please check the old e-mail system to be sure you did not miss any messages that inadvertently went to the wrong system during the transition. It took a couple days for the world wide internet to learn about our new e-mail system through DNS updates.
All Employee e-mail has been copied to the new system. Please notify me immediately if there appears to be any problems with the data that was transferred. All told it took up to ten computers running for 72 hours to transfer all the data. Items that were in folders are now "labeled" to allow for filtering and searching. Functionally this is almost identical to traditional file folders.
Student e-mail is being transferred at this time. The previous update indicated that instructions for migrating data would be provided. That strategy has changed due to a misunderstanding as to what tools Google provided to end-users to facilitate this process.
Finally, I am exploring single-sign-on (SSO) solutions that would allow for password syncronization. Be advised. If you should change your password in e-mail system at this time it will possibly be reverted back to your originally assigned SFHS password when the SSO solution is installed.

Important Info: New School Email System to Launch July 1
Dear Saint Francis students and recent graduates,
Beginning July 1, Saint Francis High School is migrating our email services to Google Apps Education Edition.
The entire school community will benefit from this change. Highlights of the move include increased storage limits for users, improved reliability and enhanced mobile device support, in addition to a significant cost savings for the school.
Aside from a new interface, very little will change from a user perspective. Your username, email address and password remain the same, and you will continue to access email services via the webmail link on the school’s webpage.
More information about additional services available through Google Apps Education will be provided at the start of the school year.
