Freshman and Sophomore Service Learning Days
The freshman and sophomore service learning days are conducted through the freshman and sophomore religious studies courses and focus on service and reflection. The entire class travels by school bus to spend the day volunteering at local community organization. The group returns to Saint Francis by 2:30 p.m. There is no fee for this service learning day and lunch is provided for all participants. Dates are scheduled for each course throughout the fall and spring semesters.
This program combines service and reflection with the goal of helping our students learn more about the needs of the poor and grow in a Christian Holy Cross sense of generosity and compassion. The freshman and sophomore service learning days does not count towards the community service graduation requirement.
The Brothers of Holy Cross have a long tradition of working with the poor. Through this retreat, students share in the Brother’s mission of service.
