Freshman Retreat
This retreat is a special event for the entire freshman class. This mandatory event occurs on the Saturday or Sunday nearest to beginning of the school year. The retreat is intended to welcome freshmen students and their families to Saint Francis High School and introduce them what it means to be part of the Holy Cross Family. This retreat is the first step of the four year focus on the Holy Cross goal of educating the heart as well as the mind, the three fold mission statement of educating the whole person: intellectual, spiritual & social dimensions.
On this day, the four recurring themes of Holy Cross are amplified:
- Bring Hope by changing the world through Christ’s love.
- Respect others by seeing the face of Christ in everyone.
- Inspire integrity of heart and mind by being true to the gospel in word and action.
- Celebrate family by building a loving Holy Cross Community
There are approximately 150 sophomore, junior & senior students who volunteer as small group leaders for the retreat day. Most of the freshmen have at least one parent who attends the afternoon session that focuses on family dynamics and communication.
