Homecoming Week gets Saint Francis ready for football game

Play Day on Friday capped off a busy Homecoming Week, where classes were suspended for a day in favor of a carnival and class competitions.

Each day, Homecoming Week featured dress-up themes and lunchtime activities, such as karaoke and dance contests.

“The competitions were packed with kids,” said senior Cat Haupt, who was among those who helped plan the activities. “It’s great to see people’s hidden talents.”

Senior Hilary Machado and other members of the Rally Board spent a month getting read for Play Day, and she couldn’t more pleased with how the students responded during the rallies.

“There was so much energy,” she said.

Students roared each time one of their own was matched up against an opponent from another class, and dances, movies and the introductions of the Homecoming Court were also major crowd-pleasers.

Homecoming 2009 closes with the Lancers facing Riordan tonight and a dance on Saturday. The football team’s victorious season so far has senior David Rohrs very excited.

“I’m really looking forward to tonight,” he said.
