International Showcase dazzles

The Saint Francis community celebrated the school’s diversity with two presentations of the International Showcase this spring.

Organized by the International Club, the student-driven show featured food, as well as songs and dance performances from diverse cultures, everywhere from Africa to Vietnam. The show, entitled “An Olympic Affair: One World, One Hope,” united students of different backgrounds on one stage and celebrated the school’s cultural awareness.

“We have so many talented students at Saint Francis. You see them work together to make something so creative,” said senior club president Arifeen Rahman.

This marked the 11th year of this Saint Francis tradition, and the event has grown tremendously since its inception. More students have gotten involved in the acts, and the audience has steadily grown. For the first time, the International Club put on two nights of performances in order to accommodate the large audience. Club members are proud that over the years, the event has become more polished and professional-looking.

“My freshman year, it was in Raskob Gym, and now we’re in the theater,” Arifeen said. “We now have the jazz band playing and people in the tech booth helping with lighting. The showcase has evolved and become a huge affair.”
