Beth Avon ’10 talks about solar house project
Posted April 30
Beth Avon ’10 returned to Saint Francis to talk to students about her involvement in building a solar-powered house at Santa Clara University.
Beth spoke to students in Mr. Rubin’s physics class about the Solar Decathlon, a competition in which Santa Clara has competed in since 2007. This two-year competition asks college students to design, construct and operate an attractive and functional solar-powered house. A sophomore engineering student at Santa Clara, Beth explained the vision behind the team’s past projects, what some of the innovative solutions team members have come up with and what the value of competing has been. She is currently at work on Santa Clara’s proposal for the 2013 competition.
