Congratulations to the Class of 2012!

Posted June 1

For the first time in 31 years, seniors graduated on campus, ending their high school journey where it started, and they relished their moment. In their last time together, graduates received their diplomas on Bro. Fisher Iwasko C.S.C., Field, walking past the familiar bay tree.

As a class, graduates received more than 745 scholarships and honors, completed more than 37,700 hours of community services. There were 194 graduates who attended the senior or Holy Cross retreat and 71 who were recognized by the National Merit Foundation.

Some individual seniors were lauded. Shubha Raghvendra and Arifeen Rahman were the valedictorian and salutatorian. David Mapa and Maura Bonini were named Man and Woman of the Year for best representing the spirit and commitment of the class. Michael Baliton was chosen as the Robert Urban Award recipient for embodying the values of the late Saint Francis vice principal, and John Colford and Molly Purnell received the President’s Award for reflecting the goals of the school. Nicholas Tomasello was the recipient of the Bro. Eamon Schaffer, C.S.C, Service Award.

Emilia Schrier delivered the student address and asked her classmates to consider the life lessons they have learned at Saint Francis. Mrs. Franco was the faculty speaker and spoke on family and the importance of leaning on each other during life’s challenges.

Members of the Class of 2012 are ready to face a new chapter, and as they become scholars, athletes, musicians, humanitarians and more, they will make the Saint Francis community proud in all that they do.
