New faculty at Saint Francis

Saint Francis High School welcomes six new faculty members this year. Among this group are an alumna of Saint Francis, a youth minister who serves at local parishes and a former member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.

Molly Boesiger ’07 returns to her Saint Francis roots, after receiving a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education from Stanford University. In college, she was also involved with Challenge Success, which arms parents and schools with tools so that students can lead balanced lives. Ms. Boesiger teaches English, economics and US history at Saint Francis and is an assistant JV swim coach.

Thomas Gaither joins the science department as a biology and chemistry teacher. In addition, Mr. Gaither is a tutor with the Holy Cross Achievers program. Originally from Indiana, he received bachelor degrees in neuroscience and psychology from Indiana University. He also committed two years to Teach for America.

Emmanuel Garcia is a graduate of UC Riverside, double-majoring in math and philosophy. He also earned a master’s in math from Riverside. At Saint Francis, Mr. Garcia teaches precalculus and geometry honors, as well as serves as an assistant coach on the JV swim team.

In addition to serving as a youth minister at St. Williams and St. Nicholas parishes, Andrea Nutt joins the Saint Francis faculty as a religious studies teacher. Ms. Nutt graduated from UC Davis with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She is currently working on a master’s in catechetical studies at Santa Clara University.

Sean O’Neill also joins the religious studies department. A former member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, he completed his undergraduate education at Loyola College with a degree in Spanish and followed up with a master’s in pastoral ministry from Boston College. Mr. O’Neill will coach girls JV lacrosse in the spring.

With prior experience in teaching and marketing, Mei Yang is the new assistant librarian at Saint Francis. Ms. Yang has a master’s degree in library and information science from San Jose State University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in international marketing from the University of South Carolina.
