Saint Francis students who have returned from LA Youth Day, a conference tailored to teens, are now feeling inspired about fearlessly living out their faith.
Accompanied by Ms. Moorhouse and Mr. Fullerton, nine Lancers attended LA Youth Day, an annual assembly hosted by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles that brought together nearly 12,800 teens. The event, which featured speakers, workshops, a liturgy and an energetic rally with contemporary worship music, challenged the teens to live out the message of the Gospels in their daily lives.
In the following reflection, sophomore Aristotle Vergara II shares how he was greatly inspired by participating at LA Youth Day.
“LA Youth Day was truly an unforgettable experience. It was my first year attending this incredible conference, and I have never participated in an event like this before. Witnessing so many young people who are pumped up for the message of Christ was moving and inspirational.
The theme of the conference was “What Are You Waiting For?” This short and simple question has such a deeper meaning and message behind it. As a Christian, I believe that is it important for me to put my faith into action. LA Youth Day empowered us and served as a wake up call for us to accept Christ’s invitation to be faithful.
The workshops that the Saint Francis group attended made us admire and appreciate God’s creation to an even greater extent. Representatives from Catholic Relief Services created a presentation that inspired us to make a difference in the lives of others. God loves all of us and reaches out to us, his people. We should not hesitate but rather accept Christ’s call to us now and live our lives with Christ by our side and as our guide. So, what are you waiting for? I am ready to take on the challenge and say yes to God’s call. Are you?”
