ASB President's Welcome
Welcome, Lancers, future Lancers and former Lancers. My name is Michelle Arra and I am your Student Body President and quintessential social butterfly. Between Varsity Water Polo, Yell Leading, Swim Team, Musical Theater, Service Club, Harry Potter Club, Student Government and other activities, it's easy to say that I oftentimes spend more hours on campus than I do at home. And I enjoy every minute of it! When you look back in 30 years on your high school experience, it's not the essays or final exams you'll remember; it's cheering in the Rage Cage at football games and lunch time karaoke that will stick with you through the years. Here at SF there a so many ways to get involved, between our 60 different clubs I'm confident that everyone can find their special niche within our campus. Whether you enjoy Shakespeare, traveling, or playing video games there is a place for you within our Miramonte residence. Though if by that slight chance you don't find something that tickles your fancy, you always have the option to get a group of friends together and start your own club! All these extra-curricular activities help us to educate our heart, and ultimately help us discover ourselves.
Throughout a single school year there are tons of events going on around campus that at a certain point you start wondering, why even go home? Football Fridays are some of my favorite days of the year, there are multiple ways to get right up in the action that football is, without ever suiting up. Yell Leading, Cheer Squad, and Spirit Commission are all ways to get involved directly and be a part of all the fun and excitement that sports are. The Student Life here at Saint Francis is very much alive and thriving. We hold amazing night events that give students the opportunity to hang out, and bond with their classmates. I have yet to attend an event outside of Saint Francis, where you can find the senior football players, theater kids, and NHS members up on stage performing together like I have witnessed at our Night of Acoustics.
Saint Francis is a place that gives countless opportunities to succeed and have a blast at the same time. I could talk for days about how amazing Saint Francis is, how I can't picture myself anywhere else and how there are so many ways to get involved. However I will leave you with these two tips:
- Don't be afraid to get involved!
- Do everything you know you can do and then more! Seize every opportunity Saint Francis gives you because one day you'll be a senior applying to colleges, wondering where the time went.
