The goal of the visual art department is to create an educational environment that inspires, encourages, and praises personal expression, and to provide opportunities and experiences that validate creative living, and life long learning.
We are all creative! Art education should identify and develop this intrinsic artistic talent in everyone. The very process, discipline and commitment in making art enhance confidence and self-esteem. It is known that the study of the arts creates “habits of mind” that transfer to a wide range of disciplines from science and math to reading and language studies.
The curriculum develops an aesthetic appreciation of nature, an awareness of, and a positive attitude toward, all people and cultures, and the ability to recognize the arts as our valuable cultural heritage.
