Dear Saint Francis Families,
As we conclude our first full week of remote learning, we wanted to reach out to thank you for prayers, messages of support, and partnership. We know adjusting to a new schedule and format for school is stressful enough - doing so while under a shelter in place order and experiencing fear and anxiety is even more taxing. With that in mind, we want you to know that our educators are working together to calibrate workload and space out assignments as best we can. We will continue to be flexible with students, but do ask that they reach out proactively to their teachers if circumstances are preventing them from completing a task or showing up for a check-in. Additionally, if your student is ill, please let teachers know so they can adjust expectations accordingly.
We continue to work on expanding our social media presence in order to build community online and encourage you to follow our accounts to stay engaged. Next week is Spirit Week, and we will have some fun content coming out from our @sfhs_activities Instagram page. Please note that any photos or videos of students posted on our accounts are from past events and meetings. We want to remind our community of the importance of social distancing and following all guidelines from health officials.
We know there has been a lot of information coming out this week, and that this situation is evolving rapidly. We continue to build towards Easter break, and are preparing for the possibility of an extension of remote learning should the need arise. We thank you for your patience as we continue to evaluate options in light of health agency recommendations. Our goal continues to be to re-open our campus as soon as it is safe to do so, and to keep our Lancer family engaged, connected, and learning together in the meantime. Our school year academic calendar will not extend should our remote learning period be prolonged, as our curriculum will continue as scheduled, simply in this new format.
Finally, we want to remind our community that today is Friday - and you still get a weekend! Take some time to practice self-care, take a break from your screens, get some rest and enjoy time with your family. Let us know how your family is spending this time together using the #LancerFamily hashtag on social media, as we'd like to share the creative ways our Lancer families are using the gift of this time.
Know of our continued prayers for you. We are all in this together!
