Athletic Office Update To all Saint Francis Athletic Families,
Happy Holidays!
I wanted to share the latest updates with all of you on information that came out this past week relating to high school athletics in our state. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these challenging times and work to support our student-athletes and their families.
New Information
I want to acknowledge that all of this information including changes can be overwhelming at times. The questions I am continually asked are: "How does this affect my sport? When can tryouts start? When will we compete? Will we?" I wish I had all the answers. As of right now, we are on hold until January 4th when the CDPH plans to release new information. We do not expect any season of sports to begin until Saturday, January 16th at the earliest. It is possible that the January 25, 2021 date to return to competition for season 1 could change and we will notify you immediately if and when there are any changes to the guidelines. The state and section offices continue to work with local and state health officials on trying to get sports back safely for all California students.
We will continue to offer conditioning and workout sessions in accordance with guidelines from the recent stay-at-home order, and will let you know about tryout dates and start dates for sports after the new year as the information becomes available. We remain grateful for the leadership of our coaches during this time and appreciate your support and partnership. We all remain hopeful for 2021 and wish you and your family good health and safety in the new year.
