In this camp students are asked: How are the historical background and literary themes of the summer reading relevant to me as I begin high school?   Students explore how identity impacts both the text and their everyday lives as they explore ideas such as inaction, fear and resilience to prepare them emotionally for their transition to high school.

Note:  The text that accompanies this class is The Book Thief which is the summer reading for College Prep English.  This class may not be appropriate for students who will be taking honors English.

This camp provides an opportunity for Students to review Algebra 1 over the summer in order to be fully prepared for the fall semester.

Put on a Technical Showcase with lighting, sound, and/or visuals! This course students will learn to program and run lights, make the sound playback, and run slideshows for an end of session live showcase. Learn the fundamentals of lighting, sound, and visuals in a professional setting.  This camp is led by Saint Francis AV guru Dale Thompson

Incoming freshemen will get an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of our campus, history and technological resources. This is a great way to get to know SFHS and what to expect in your first year.

Students will learn the basics of public speaking, giving presentations and developing a point of view. Our new Lancers will engage in delivering speeches as well as participating in formal and informal debates. In addition, we will also develop skills to critique, analyze and question speeches delivered by others. 

Learn how to run your own Streaming or Podcast show. Students will learn how to set up microphones, cameras, capture and edit their shows for online presentations. By the end of the session students will be able to run audio and video live for various streaming and podcasting settings. This course introduces students to publishing skills and the world of journalism through interactive workshops and peer collaboration. During this session, campers are led through the process of creating their very own journalistic publication alongside their peers. Throughout the camp, students will learn new and unique writing skills, how to conduct interviews, and the fundamentals of photography and graphic design. Campers will cover and report on instructor-provided stories, news events, sports tournaments, and more by interviewing sources and working with one another. By the end of the session, each group of campers will have designed an original publication of their own. It will surely excite and engage students about journalism and help them create lasting bonds before entering high school. This course is taught by the Yearbook Adviser to the award-winning Saint Francis Poverello.  Available Session 1 only

Here, our newest Lancers will learn robotics skills in our new Innovation Center! Campers will build, design, program and test robots that can do various tasks and respond to environmental changes. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our robotics team.

Students will have the unique opportunity to participate in fun and exciting summer games such as SpikeBall, Corn Hole, Ultimate Frisbee, Flag Football, and much more. SFHS Games is a summer course that provides spaces for students to play, socialize and, above all else, have fun. Students will also have a chance to relax and slow down with yoga and meditation classes.
