Timing
Because Saint Francis operates on a block schedule, there are two start times for shadow days. Shadow days begin at either 7:50 a.m. or 9:05 a.m. and conclude at 2:00 p.m. Please refer to your confirmation email to determine the start time for your shadow date.
What to Bring
While eighth grade students are not required to bring anything, we encourage shadows to bring a book in the event that their host has a test or quiz.
What to Wear
In order to have the complete Saint Francis experience, we encourage guests to follow our school dress code.
Boys: Please wear a collared shirt and pants. We ask that you not wear t-shirts, shorts, sweatpants, or blue jeans.
Girls: Please wear a sleeved shirt and pants or a skirt. We ask that you not wear t-shirts, tank tops, shorts, sweatpants, or blue jeans.
Lunch
We provide your choice of an entree and a drink for lunch. Additional items are available for purchase in the cafeteria. If your student has dietary restrictions feel free to bring a bag lunch or contact Katie Mitchell via email at shadow@sfhs.com or via telephone at (650) 968-1213, ext. 270.
Getting to Campus
In order to avoid the morning congestion on campus, we ask that you drop off and pick up your student in the 600 parking lot near the athletic fields. For your convenience, we have provided a tab above with both a map and directions to the 600 parking lot and the Alumni Walk of Fame. We recommend that families put 530 South Drive Mountain View, CA into their GPS for directions to the 600 parking lot. You cannot access this parking lot from the front entrance of school.
Requesting Hosts
Visitors may request a current Saint Francis student to host them for their shadow visit. While we will do our best to meet your request, it is not a guarantee. Each host is responsible for one guest at a time, so if they have already been paired with a visitor, we will find another host with similar interests. We make every effort to match eighth grade students with one of our underclassmen based on their interests (class schedule, extra-curricular activities, etc.).
