Nineteen Saint Francis seniors have been named as semifinalists in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program, marking the third consecutive year that Saint Francis has had more semifinalists that any Catholic school in California.
These students entered the competition by taking the 2013 PSAT. Nationwide, the National Merit semifinalists received the highest test scores in each state, and they are less than one percent of US high school seniors. They are now eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarships worth about $35 million.
“We are incredibly proud of these exceptional students,” said Director of Academics Maggi Knochenhauer. “But not only have they demonstrated such enthusiasm for learning and excelled academically, they are all well-rounded students who are just as passionate about social causes, leadership, athletics and other interests.”
