Parents, students and alumni rolled up their sleeves for the Lancer Family Day of Service to support an organization that provides transitional housing for homeless families.

The service opportunity at LifeMoves Villa Family Shelter was an opportunity for Lancer volunteers to see the face of homelessness and serve local families with compassion and care. Students took the lead in preparing and serving breakfast, cooking scrambled eggs, sausages and pancakes, while parents assisted. Volunteers brightened up a patio with flowers and planted herbs and vegetables in a garden. Lastly, they also invited resident children to work on a craft with yarn and popsicle sticks, which was a big hit.

Twice a year, Saint Francis invites families to join together to participate in meaningful projects. Volunteers can make new friends, develop compassion for others or even learn new skill or two.
