Summer Programs Employment Opportunities

Summer School Faculty positions for the coming summer are typically posted in December and January, although sometimes earlier. Faculty are typically hired in January through March, although sometimes later. Check back frequently in the Winter and Spring for current job openings.

Summer School Teacher's Assistant positions are posted in February. Applications due March 15th to Vice Principal Mike Kemp.

Ave Crux Faculty & Teacher's Assistant positions are posted in February. Applications due March 15th to Sean O'Neill. Faculty are typically hired in January and February, although sometimes later.


Application Process:  Interested applicants for all positions should submit a job application (found below) along with personal résumé, letter of intent and purpose, a list of three professional references (for Faculty and TAs), and a copy of your college transcript (for TAs only). Qualified applicants who have submitted all required documents will be contacted within 1 week regarding the next steps. If you are also applying for job openings outside of Summer School, please indicate when applying so that we can expedite a hiring decision if possible.

Teacher's Assistants

 Job Description & Ideal Applicants:  A Teacher's Assistant acts as the primary assistant to the teacher in the classroom, helping with all administrative and curricular needs. Therefore, we are looking for college or graduate students who are interested in teaching as a profession, who enjoy tutoring high and middle school age students, and collaborating with instructors. Applicants that have prior experience in a classroom setting (including former SFHS summer employment), and/or have an academic expertise in the particular subject area opening, will be given priority.

Ave Crux Faculty

Faculty:  Seeking 2-3 teachers that would teach English, Math (Common Core 6-8), and Science. Part mentor, part instructor, an Ave Crux faculty member is responsible for 3 classes of 15 students each. TA: Seeking 2-3 Teacher's Assistants to support the Ave Crew faculty members. TAs provide personal as well as academic solicitude to the students enrolled in the Program. Rooted in the tradition of Holy Cross, the Ave Crux Summer Program is a free offers intellectual and social enrichment for middle school students who are first generation high school or college graduates, with demonstrated financial need, who have demonstrated commitment to their learning and growth and have the potential to be academically and socially successful in a competitive college-prep program, and are members of underrepresented racial or ethnic groups, socio-economically disadvantaged, and/or at-risk students. Partnering with conscientious and skilled The Ave Crux Summer program aims to close the opportunity and achievement gaps for these students through academically engaging courses and socially rewarding experiences during the summer.
