Dear Parents,

We hope you and your family are enjoying a restful summer!

We’d like to introduce ourselves to you – Epicurean Group, the team behind the meals your students enjoy at Saint Francis. Epicurean Group is dedicated to serving your student, school and the community.

We at Epicurean Group are committed to sourcing seasonal, local, organic fruits and vegetables while preparing delicious food that will nourish your student’s body and mind. We partner with local growers and artisan producers, such as Niman Ranch, Clover Dairy, Bassian Farms and International Pastry, who demonstrate high standards of quality and environmental responsibility. Our seafood is purchased according to the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch guidelines. We choose to source only the most sustainable grass-fed beef and free-range chicken that contain no antibiotics or rBGH. We always incorporate organic produce from local farms throughout the Bay Area.

At Epicurean Group our GENERAL MANAGER Winston Wint, EXECUTIVE CHEF Pedro Guerrero and their team cook from scratch to prepare your student’s meals – all our stocks, dressings and sauces are made in-house – nothing comes from cans. You won’t find anything processed or artificial in our food. We chose fresh, healthy ingredients, never processed food high in sodium, fat and sugar.

Food education is big part of what we do at Saint Francis — from our cooking classes to our American BBQ Series, our Nori Raw Sushi Program and the Chef’s Table cuisine — educating your students is our primary goal. Our Go Greener! program provides tips to encourage environmental responsibility in the dining hall and at home. We strive to eliminate food waste in Saint Francis and in all our cafes and restaurants. We were recently awarded the 2017 Governor’s Environmental and Economic Leadership Award for waste management and reduction.

Epicurean Group established the GreenTown Co-op in 2009 to replace plastic take-away containers with compostable products and reduce landfill waste. The co-op currently keeps an estimated 21 tons of trash annually out of the landfill. Epicurean Group also is a participating member of the global Slow Food organization and supports its local education and advocacy efforts, along with Alice Waters and Carlo Petrini.
