Online Application

Saint Francis is excited to announce that we are using Ravenna for our class of 2021 Application. The application includes questions covering demographic information, an essay portion, and registration for both the HSPT and Interview. The application button on the right will take you to the Ravenna homepage where you will create an account with Ravenna or log in to your existing account. Please choose the San Francisco Bay Area region and search for Saint Francis High School.

The High School Placement Test (HSPT)

The HSPT will be offered twice at Saint Francis on January 21 and 28, 2017.  The test will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:15 p.m.

--Registration for the HSPT is part of our online application. Should you register to take the HSPT at Saint Francis, you will automatically be enrolled for the date that you choose on the application (we guarantee you a spot for that date).

--Families that register to take the HSPT at Saint Francis will receive a confirmation email with more details about the test in late December.

--Applicants applying to more than one Catholic high school in the San Jose, Oakland or San Francisco Dioceses may take the exam only once.

--If you plan to take the test at a site other than Saint Francis, you must register directly with that alternate site.

To address the issue of choice, Catholic high schools in the San Jose Diocese are asking that students take the HSPT at the high school that they would most like to attend in the fall.

Every applicant is required to sign up for an interview as part of the online application process. During this casual 15-minute interview, students will have an opportunity to talk with a Saint Francis teacher or administrator about their interests and goals for high school.

Interviews will be offered on January 17, 19 and 26. Further instructions are provided on the online application.

School Recommendation

--Saint Francis requires only one Academic Letter of Recommendation. This letter may be completed by one of the following people: Principal, Vice Principal, Counselor or 7th or 8th grade teacher of a core subject (English, Math, Social Studies etc.)

--The Letter of Recommendation is submitted electronically through our online application.

--Non-Academic letters of recommendation are not a part of our Admission criteria, but if you would like to email a Non-Academic letter of recommendation, we will add it to the applicant’s file. Please email non-academic letters to

All applicants will need to submit their transcripts from 7th grade and the first semester of 8th grade.

The transcript can be either submitted electronically or mailed directly to Saint Francis High School. Further instructions are provided on the online application.

Transfer Information

At this time, Saint Francis High School is not able to offer a transfer application for current high school students for the 2017 – 2018 school year.   Based on our school’s current enrollment numbers and projections for the in-coming 9th grade class, we do not anticipate any openings for current 9th, 10th or 11th graders for next year.

We will analyze our enrollment numbers again in late March and, if we are able to post a transfer application, it will be available on our school’s website the first week of April.  The application will be due the first week of May.
