It is easy to do through our online donation forms.  You determine the amount and frequency of your donation, and we will charge your credit card at the predetermined interval. We will send you an email confirming the charge, and your gift will automatically renew each year.

Matching Gifts

Did you know that many companies offer a matching gift program to encourage philanthropy among their employees? And that some companies will even match to spouses and retirees? Some will also match volunteer hours with a monetary donation.

By simply completing a matching gift form (on-line or paper), you may be able to double, or even triple, the impact of your gift! Contributions of any amount are very much appreciated.

A Gift of Stock

A gift of long-term appreciated securities - i.e. stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds that have realized significant appreciation over time, is one of the most tax-efficient of all ways to give. The two key advantages:

  • Any long-term appreciated securities with unrealized gains (meaning they were purchased over a year ago, and have a current value greater than their original cost) may be donated to Saint Francis and a tax deduction taken for the full fair market value of the securities
  • Since the securities are donated rather than sold, capital gains taxes from selling the securities no longer apply.

When making a gift of securities, it is important that you arrange for a direct transfer to the broker for Saint Francis High School and not sell them yourself. Please use the Stock Transfer Instructions or contact Pam Klaus at 650-968-1213, ext 253 for assistance.

Establish a Memorial or Tribute

Your gift to the Saint Francis High School Endowment may be made in memory, or in honor of someone. The amount of your gift becomes part of the principal of the Endowment and is never touched. The interest generated from the principal is used for our Tuition Assistance Program. A memorial of $1,000 or more may be commemorated with an engraved plate that becomes part of the Celebration of Life Plaque located at Higgins Hall. Memorials or tributes that accrue to $10,000 and more are tracked and annual disbursements are made as designated scholarships.

To establish a memorial or tribute, or to make a gift to an existing Memorial, contact Mike Speckman in the Institutional Advancement Office, or go to "Donate Online", and choose Memorial and Tribute Gifts

Planned Giving

Through Planned Giving, donors can incorporate meaningful gifts to Saint Francis High School in a thoughtful, organized manner intended to coordinate the donor's philanthropic objectives with his or her overall estate and financial plan.

In most cases, planned gifts not only benefit Saint Francis, but can benefit the donor, as well. This is because many planned gifts can be structured to allow the donor to retain income from, or the use of, the "gifted" property during his or her lifetime. Planned gifts can also be structured to reduce, and in some cases, eliminate income, capital gains and estate taxes.

Our motto at Saint Francis High School is "to educate the hearts and minds to serve the world." Even seemingly modest bequests can make a meaningful contribution to this vision. The Saint Francis Development Office would be pleased to discuss with you, or your accountant or attorney, the variety of ways to include Saint Francis in your estate or financial planning through one or more planned gifts. For more details contact Holly Elkins '93 in the Saint Francis Development Office.

Tax Tip

Remember that each dollar you give is fully tax deductible to the extent allowable by law and helps to continue and enhance the quality education provided for our students. In particular, gifts of appreciated stock can offer tremendous tax advantages to the donor. The Development Office can help you with the transfer details to make this type of gift easy and effortless.

Send your gift or pledge card to the Development Office.
