Mountain View, Calif., March 10, 2018 — It is with great sorrow that we must inform you that our Lancer family suffered a terrible loss, Friday, March 9, when graduate Jennifer Gonzales ’03 and her unborn child were killed in the tragic hostage situation at the Veterans Home of California in Yountville.
The thoughts and prayers of our entire Saint Francis community are with Jennifer’s family and with the families and friends of all the victims of this terrible tragedy. We are grieving in solidarity for the senseless loss of such an intelligent, compassionate young woman, and her colleagues, who dedicated — and ultimately sacrificed — their lives to serve our veterans most in need of mental health support.
A 2003 graduate of Saint Francis High School, Jennifer was an excellent student who will be remembered by her teachers and classmates for her gentle heart, curious mind and bright spirit.
At this time, Saint Francis High School requests privacy from the media as we grieve and pray together as a community. We are focused on privately honoring the lives of Jennifer and her unborn child and providing support to Jennifer’s family and our alumni, students and parents who are all grieving at this time.
