Reasons to Give to Saint Francis

Your contribution gives us the means to ignite the hearts of our students, shaping them to become Holy Cross men and women.

Holy Cross men and women are people of integrity who discover their God-given talents, respect the dignity of every person, celebrate family and bring hope to others.

Saint Francis looks to philanthropic contributions to fund a portion of the operation budget.

We do not receive any federal or state funding or financial support from the Brothers of Holy Cross or the Diocese of San Jose. Our ability to deliver the high-quality college-preparatory programs that Saint Francis is known for, the school, like other independent schools, depends upon your charitable support. Your gift allows Saint Francis to provide faculty, programs, facilities and aid that make it a diverse community and one of excellence.

We rely on the Saint Francis Fund instead of making tuition higher.

The largest part of the school’s operating budget is covered by tuition, but the school deliberately sets tuition below cost in order to keep the school more affordable to a wider range of students and to provide our community with opportunities to support the school through charitable gifts.

Your contribution makes a direct impact on our ability to have an economically diverse school through our financial aid programs.

Saint Francis awarded aid in the amount of $3.9 million in 2020. Approximately 21% of students are receiving financial aid this year.

Our Athletic and Art programs benefit from the Saint Francis Fund.

The Saint Francis athletic and arts programs are fully funded by the operating budget at a level which allows them to be excellent without needing additional fundraising. The Saint Francis Fund is critical to that.

A great education is made by the dedication of great teachers

The Saint Francis Fund, like our operating budget, primarily supports our faculty and our programs. 67% of Saint Francis’ operating budget goes to salaries and benefits. This is in line with the national average.

Every gift, no matter how large, makes a difference!

Most gifts made to Saint Francis are under $1,000. But together they add up to millions for financial aid, academics, arts, and athletics.
