College Counseling Social & Emotional Learning

Our unique model directs freshman counselors to focus on supporting our newest Lancers in the adjustment to high school, provide academic and personal counseling and ensure a smooth transition in this important year.

Freshman counselors use small groups to explore topics including making connections, time management and an introduction to counseling. Freshman counselors remain available to freshmen for individual counseling appointments, and they will also meet individually with students to discuss academic planning for the Sophomore year.

Students in their sophomore year will then transition to their assigned Guidance and College Counselor, who they will work with through the senior year. Through a variety of classroom presentations, group meetings, and individual guidance, students are assisted in selecting colleges that match their academic goals and interests. The upper level counselors advocate for students and provide support for their academic and social-emotional needs; they are also a student’s guide to their college search and application process.

Collaboration with teachers, parents, coaches and other members of the Saint Francis community is crucial to supporting students; Saint Francis counselors rely on these critical relationships and open communication. OptimizedImage,Optimized
