At Saint Francis, our block schedule is designed to support deep, focused learning while allowing time for balance, wellness, and connection.
The rhythm of our academic year reflects our commitment to educating the whole person, with intentional breaks, spiritual life activities, and co-curricular opportunities built in. Explore how our schedule and calendar come together to create a meaningful and manageable school experience.
School Year
Our school calendar supports the mission of the school, creating intentional time and space for the spiritual, academic and social lives of students. Our calendar supports the life of the school and demonstrates the vibrancy of life at Saint Francis.
The first semester and final assessments conclude before winter break so students can truly step away from academic obligations to spend time with family. Our second semester ends before graduation on Memorial weekend.
School Day
Preparing for college starts in high school, which is why we use a uniquely designed block schedule.
Our alternating class structure mirrors a true college model, helping students transition with confidence and manage coursework effectively.
- 80-minute classes rotated every other day allow for deeper discussions and group activities.
- Built-in 60-minute collaboration periods (every other day) provide time to meet with teachers, study, or work on projects.
- Later start times after collaboration support student wellness.
- Encourages time management and organizational skills essential for college.
- Offers flexibility for students balancing academics and extracurriculars.
This revised block schedule was introduced with student well-being in mind.
