Echoing the spiritual life of the founder of Holy Cross, Blessed Basil Moreau, we aim to express Hope in the Cross of Christ, Trust in Divine Providence, Emphasis on Unity and Communion, Conformity to Christ and Zeal for Mission.
These are the values that characterized Father Moreau’s Christian discipleship and shaped his apostolic priorities, his vision of community life and his prayer. Through communal and personal experiences we foster the spiritual life of all of our students and include and highlight those who celebrate various faith traditions.
IGNITE Youth Group
|
Students from every grade level are invited to join our youth group called IGNITE. IGNITE Youth Ministry is a Catholic based, student led youth group open to all students and all faiths. The group has three prongs: Friendship, Sacraments and Service. The bi-monthly meetings include opportunities for students to talk about the challenges and struggles of maintaining their Catholic values. IGNITE CORE TEAM students are Sophomore through Seniors who Apply to participate in leadership opportunities in Campus Ministry. IGNITE CORE students plan liturgies, work on retreats, (Jesus:Reframed Retreat) deepen friendships, organize outreach as well as develop their own spirituality. |
“We should strive to IGNITE and maintain within ourselves the sacred fire of love.”
Blessed Basil Moreau
Rules
Prayer
Daily Prayer |
---|
Each day students and educators lead prayers over the PA system that unite our school assembly as one. These prayers often focus on particular Saint's feast days, current events or commemorate federal and local holidays. |
Daily Mass |
Mass is celebrated every morning at 7:15 a.m. in Saint Joseph’s Chapel. All students and educators are welcome to attend. |
Rosary |
The rosary is said every Tuesday and Thursday after school in Saint Joseph’s Chapel. All students and educators are welcome to attend. |
Seasonal Prayer |
The beauty of the Catholic Liturgical Season (Advent, Lent, Easter, etc.) is that each of them carry their own themes that often correlate with the feelings and nature of the seasons. The Blessing of the In-Season Athletes, Advent Wreath Blessing, Reconciliation Services and more are all ways our students are supported by God's grace and blessing at Saint Francis. |
Sacraments
All-School Liturgies |
---|
The entire Saint Francis community of students and educators celebrate monthly Eucharistic liturgies or Prayer Services together. Our students lead our Liturgies through serving in various roles as lectors, singers, A/V support and in reflections. |
Confirmation |
Our program is offered to Catholic students who are Seniors. The program is meant to serve those students who missed or are not enrolled in their parish’s Confirmation program. Our Confirmation students take the Christian Spirituality course their Senior year in conjunction with other formation opportunities offered. Registration for this program begins in the Spring of Junior year. |
Reconciliation |
Reconciliation is offered for the whole school during Advent and Lent as well as by appointment through Campus Ministry. |
Sacramental Prep |
Many times students seek to join the Catholic Church through reception of Baptism and First Holy Communion. We work with their local parish to aid them in their Full Initiation into the faith. |
