Summer at Saint Francis welcomes international Middle and High School students to participate in our academic and athletic camps. Before registering, please consider the following common concerns associated with international students participating in camps at Saint Francis.
Visas & Other Documentation |
- Because of the brevity of our courses and camps, international students that take high school courses (not for credit), or participate in middle school or sports camps, do not require any kind of visa other than a standard traveller / tourist visa. If government agencies inquire about your students' participation in Summer at Saint Francis, it is important that you note that your student is participating in a summer camp and not earning credit from our school.
- Summer at Saint Francis does not require, offer, or assist with Visas or other immigration documentation, such as F-1/F-2 or I-20. Furthermore, Saint Francis is not a participant in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

English Language Proficiency |
- Our High School classes are academic in nature, moving quickly through content, as each 2.5 week class is intended to be one Semester / Term of curriculum. We recommend an English language proficiency of nearly fluent, such as a TOEFL score of 95 or higher on a scale of 120. Both your student and family must understand that none of the High School classes will be very accommodating of a beginning or moderately conversant English language learner, so care must be taken to ensure that your high school student’s English language proficiency is sufficient to ensure his/her success.
- For Middle School courses, the language ability of your student does not need to be as high, however, students should be sufficiently competent in English to understand the teacher's commands and respond to teachers or students when spoken to. Because camps are largely social in nature, we also want international students to be able to regularly interact with their peers, so their ability with English should not be so low as to discourage them from speaking. Therefore, TOEFL Junior Test score level of “Expanding” or scale scores of 700 or higher out of 900 are recommended.

Class/Camp Selection |
- Grades / class levels at schools around the world can depart from the grades at US schools. Therefore, we recommend matching students to classes based on their age, rather than grade, such that your student will be placed with similarly aged American students.
-- Youth Sports Camps | Ages 5 - 11
-- Discover @SFHS / Advanced Sports Camps | Ages 11 - 13
-- High School Courses | Ages 13 - 18
- If your student is interested in taking a high school course, he/she must take the class for enrichment. We do not grant high school credit to international students.
