As a Catholic, Holy Cross educational institution, Saint Francis High School commits time and resources to the ongoing spiritual formation of all of its members.
Our programs invite all to engage with our core values (Bric Themes), the pillars of Holy Cross (Hearts, Minds, Zeal, Family, Hope) and Basil Moreau’s formational call to imitate Christ and the Holy Family in an effort to provide opportunities for ongoing growth on our spiritual journeys. In doing so, Saint Francis seeks to support the educational mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross and to represent the ideals of its Founder Basil Moreau, who ultimately sought to unify and sanctify all. Moreau reminds us to:
“live in such a manner that, as it sees the members of our family, the world may say of us as it was said of the first Christians: ‘See how they love one another!’ This is the most ardent desire of my heart.”
Therefore, to this end, we offer formation for students, educators and parents as follows:
Students
Our four year Religious Studies curriculum is augmented by a wide variety of sacramental and formational experiences as directed by Campus Ministry, including liturgies, service learning, immersion and retreat experiences available throughout a student’s four year journey. We intentionally reinforce the values of Holy Cross through a cyclical emphasis on our four BRIC values each year: Bring Hope, Respect Others, Inspire Integrity and Celebrate Family.
Educators
All educators participate in a three year formation program from the start of their employment on campus, which includes a variety of retreat experiences and regularly scheduled opportunities to learn about and discuss the charism of Holy Cross. Additionally, ongoing formation occurs regularly throughout each school year through reflection and examination of the values and virtues of Holy Cross as part of our in-service reflections, retreat experiences and participation in the Convocation offered annually by the Holy Cross Institute in Austin, Texas.
Parents
In our partnership with parents to share in the educational experience of our students, we actively engage with our parent groups to instill in them an understanding of our Holy Cross charism and its presence in our work with each other and our students through Lancer Family Connection, annual grade level meetings and formation opportunities via our BRIC Parent program.
