Through our partnership with Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) we offer a wide range of options for students. Students can complete a semester course in as little as 3-weeks with Imagine Learning (Edgenuity).
Students can catch up on missed credits, take a subject not offered at their school, improve their technology skills, solve a scheduling conflict, try a different method of learning, or supplement their learning activities if they are a professional athlete, homeschooled or temporarily homebound. Students can focus on a max of 2-subjects at a time online in the summer – while still covering the classes they need in the school year. Online courses also provide an option for students who cannot adhere to the 1-day absence attendance policy of Summer at Saint Francis.
Students may use online courses for credit or simply for enrichment. For credit courses are used for advancement or remediation, with the course results reflected in their transcript. Enrichment courses are simply to allow a student to get exposure to a particular subject, and do not reflect in their transcript. Please carefully consider the information below and on the Summer Online Courses page when selecting online courses.

Can a student complete online courses if they have a learning disability?Yes. Accommodations can be made to meet a student’s learning needs. Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) requires that students who have a documented disability submit their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan for review prior to their enrollment. Please upload your documentation to the Summer at Saint Francis forms page. The Summer High School Principal will provide these to the Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) instructors. |
Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) Accreditation
Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) has also received approval from the University of California (UC) as an online course provider and has numerous individual course approvals for California “a-g” college entrance requirements. These core courses are approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
Online Teachers
The Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) teachers are available by appointment between 8am-5pm Mon-Friday. California state-certified teachers work closely with students in each course to provide guidance and frequent feedback as students progress through the curriculum. Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) teachers are content area experts in the fields that they teach. Teachers are available by email, and will often share a phone number to call or text when students have questions or they can arrange a time for a live phone conference or online chat. Emails are generally returned within 24-48 hours on business days. Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) has dedicated success coaches who track student progress and communicate with students when they are falling behind, and encourage them to get back on track.
Understanding Online Terms Versus Semesters
Courses in Term A represent the first semester of a course, while courses in Term B represent the second semester. You need both Term A and Term B courses to receive credit for a full-year (2 semesters). You may select Term A or Term B of a course independently if it is for remediation.
How many online courses can students take at one time?We recommend students only take two courses concurrently (online and/or in-person). Students should be cognizant of the high level of work required in online courses as well as the term end dates when choosing courses to complete. We will also take into consideration the NCAA requirements and limitations for those who intend to play Division 1 or 2 sports in college. The NCAA will not approve a student taking two consecutive courses (ie. Algebra 1A & Algebra 1B) concurrently. There is also a minimum enrollment period in summer courses of 21-days with Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) for NCAA eligibility. |

Note: if you plan to enroll in Term B / Semester 2 of an online course without taking Term A / Semester 1, please be certain that you have mastered the Term A material and can demonstrate proof of a prerequisite for the Term B / Semester 2 material. Be advised that Term B courses begin without review.
Understanding Credits
Any high school student (including a rising 9th grader) can earn credit in many circumstances through our online courses. This is because many of our online high school courses are UC(a-g) / CSU and NCAA approved. Therefore, they are accepted by many High Schools. Each semester course taken in one Term is worth 5-credits. In order to receive credit, students must be sure to register as "for credit" when paying for the course and be present for the in person proctored exam.
Please check with your school’s administration before registering to ensure that taking an online high school class is acceptable. Although Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) credits are accepted by high schools and universities, your individual school may place restrictions on student schedules that do not permit you to benefit from taking our online courses.

What are course preparation requirements? All Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) courses are academically rigorous and considered college preparatory and will cover an entire semester’s worth of material. As such, it is important that students understand the need to set aside time to not only complete all of the required assignments and assessments but also to reach out to their teacher and schedule meetings at least 24-hours in advance. Please note that plagiarism, the use of AI, and other academic dishonesty has a consequence and online teachers flag these if submitted. |
Schedule
Terms for advancement or remediation last 3 weeks and require in-person final exams that are given on the Saint Francis Campus.
Terms for enrichment can be extended to 9-weeks and require no final exam. You will need to email our office to receive an extension.
- Term A | Sunday, June 1 - Monday, June 23
- Term A In-person Final at Saint Francis | Monday, June 23 — 1:00-3:00 p.m.
- Term B | Tuesday, June 24 - Tuesday, July 15
- Term B In-person Final at Saint Francis | Tuesday, July 15 — 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Can I start early or extend the course after the deadline? You may elect to start the course on May 1 for a supplemental fee. This is an option for purchase at the bottom of online courses called 'Online courses early start'. If you start in the spring, and still complete the course by mid-July you are eligible for a transcript. However, completing a course after the grade deadline will mean the course cannot be used on a transcript for credit. |

Saint Francis Students
English, Social Science and World Language Remediation |
---|
Saint Francis students can take the English, Social Studies, and World Language online courses for remediation (D or F). The grade will be added to their transcript, but will not replace the original D or F. The summer grade will then average into their overall GPA. |
Trigonometry Advancement |
For advancement in Trigonometry, it’s highly recommended that students take our in-person course to better prepare for the required final exam. However, students may take online Trigonometry through Imagine Learning (Edgenuity). Students must be present for the proctored in-person final exam, and must receive a passing score of at least 60%. Students need to meet the prerequisite grade to advance to AP Precalculus. This online course will open in April when the in person Trigonometry registration also opens. |
Exercise Science Remediation |
To remediate Exercise Science, take Anatomy and/or Health Science Concepts (verify NCAA and UC/CSU eligibility on the Summer Online Course page.) |
Online Lab and Math Remediation |
Saint Francis students need approval from the Summer High School Principal to take an online lab science course or an online math course for remediation. Students can only take online science and math courses if the same course is not offered in-person during the summer. |
Geometry |
Saint Francis students must take in-person courses for Geometry, whether at Saint Francis or another UC/CSU approved in-person school. |
World Language Courses |
Saint Francis students may take online Spanish 3 or French 3 for credit in the summer. The level 3 world language course will appear on the Saint Francis transcript as a summer course, but no units will accompany it and thus will not factor into the GPA. |
Early Start |
Saint Francis students may not take Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) courses during the regular school year unless approved by the Summer High School Principal. |
