IN THIS SECTION

The Guidance and College Counseling program at Saint Francis focuses on three core areas of work with students: academic, college/career, and personal/social.

School counselors are excellent resources, however, they do not provide therapy or long-term counseling. For parent/guardian(s) that are seeking additional outside support for their students, the student's pediatrician or primary care physician can be an excellent start. Resources may also be available through your medical insurance carrier. In some cases, referrals to outside agencies may be initiated by the school.

Having open conversations about mental health can go a long way in making students feel safe and supported. Families may consider posting the following information in the home in the case that your student may be looking for confidential support:

If you are a student in need of support, please contact one of the following numbers (all lines are open 24/7):

Call — 1-800-273-8255 or 650-579-0350
Text — "start" to 741741
