Dear Saint Francis Families,

As we near the end of the semester and move through the season of Advent, we’re reminded of the many ways this time invites us to slow down, reflect and prepare for moments of togetherness as a family. Our Christmas with Saint Francis celebration grounded us in hope, peace, joy and love of the season.

As we look ahead to the upcoming break, we know our students are also working hard and turning their attention to final assessments. While the holidays bring excitement and joy, they can also make for busy schedules. We are especially grateful for your partnership in helping students remain present at school during these important days. Being on campus for finals in December not only supports their success but allows students the gift of truly resting and stepping away from schoolwork during our vacation days in January.

End of Semester Schedules

We believe that students can demonstrate knowledge and skills in many ways. As such, for final assessments, students will have a combination of projects, performances, essays and exams.

  • This week we work to conclude most of the final projects.
  • Next week, final exams are slated for two hours, but exams are not designed to take that long.
  • Tuesday, December 16 is a Special Collaboration day where students are able to visit school from 9:00-11:00 a.m. to study with teachers.
  • During finals days, students may opt for comfortable Lancer dress.
  • Meals on campus during finals are limited to grab-and-go options and will end at 2:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly.

Finals will take place in various locations around campus. Students should check this sheet ahead of time to note the location and time of each exam.

Semester Grade Reports

Teachers will validate grades on January 7 and 8, and grade reports will be sent on January 9. Report cards will be sent via email and will also be uploaded to the DocViewer on Schoology.

March Testing

As you recall, in October, we offered the sophomore Pre-ACT, junior PSAT and optional senior SAT. In the spring, students will have the opportunity to take the optional PSAT 10 and optional junior SAT. Advanced registration is required here, and families are responsible for paying the exam fees for these additional opportunities.

Gratitude

We are deeply thankful for our Lancer families and the countless ways you support our community. Many of our Lancer Family Connection parents volunteered their time and donated resources to bring joy to our educators. They decorated the Welcome Center with holiday cheer, creating a wall filled with heartfelt notes of gratitude, and organized a raffle with a lucky winner selected each school day in December.

Our educators truly appreciate your thoughtfulness, and we are so grateful for the joy and generosity you share with our community.  We wish you a very merry holiday season!
