Families who attend a high school other than Saint Francis should verify that the course through Summer at Saint Francis will be accepted for credit at their local high school.
Most of our courses are UC/CSU (a-g) and NCAA approved*. Students may enroll in either our in-person or fully online programs for remediation. Please note that remediation is for D or F grades.
*NCAA doesn't approve of "Credit Recovery" courses in Edgenuity.

Will my high school accept this credit? How will they receive the grade? Each high school has its own policies for advancement and remediation. You should talk to a representative of your high school in order to determine if they will accept credit earned through Summer at Saint Francis. When you register, you will have the option of having a transcript sent to your school. If you would like them to incorporate the credit into your child's transcript, you should have one sent to the school. You may also have a transcript sent home. |
Please check with your school’s administration before registering to ensure that taking a summer high school class is acceptable. Although our credits are accepted by high schools and universities, your individual school may place restrictions on student schedules that do not permit you to benefit from taking our summer courses. For example, some schools do not allow their students to take a summer class to “advance” through a level of a subject in order to take the next level of the subject in the upcoming year. Another example is some schools do not permit students to take summer classes to reduce the number of classes they can take in the school year.
What must I do to earn credit for a course? / How many credits do I get for each class?Any high school student (including a rising 9th grader) can earn credit in almost all circumstances. This is because most of our summer high school courses are UC (a-g) / CSU and NCAA approved. Therefore, they are accepted by the vast majority of high schools. |

Each semester course taken in one Term is worth 5 credits. In order to receive credit, students must do two primary things:
- Complete and indicate the course is for credit at the time of registration. Transcripts will be mailed to your home, your child's school or an alternative address based on the information you provided during registration.
- The student may be absent no more than 1 day per Term / Semester class, and must be present for the final exam. (For more details, see our attendance policy below.)
- Saint Francis students are eligible to receive credit for Geometry, Trigonometry, or courses for remediation. Rising 9th grade Saint Francis students may not take Summer at Saint Francis High School courses for credit. Rising 9th grade Saint Francis students are encouraged to enroll in "Lancers Rising".
Transcripts - Credit versus Enrichment
Choice of Credit or Enrichment needs to be selected no later than the 6th day of the course. Choices cannot be changed after the 7th day of the course. Students taking classes for credit should choose to have transcripts sent to their school and/or their home at the time of registration. You may choose two destinations for transcripts.
Transcripts are mailed on the last day of the Second High School Term. Transcripts are provided to students who are taking the course for credit. Transcripts are not provided for students who choose enrichment.
Courses for Credit |
---|
Students must enroll in both terms in order to receive a full year's worth of credit. Students who choose to get credit should sign up for "advancement" or "remediation" when they register. Students who choose to get credit will receive a transcript. |
Courses for Enrichment |
Students are encouraged to take courses from Summer at Saint Francis for enrichment purposes. This is a good option to preview a course in the upcoming school year or to explore new topics in the STEM or Liberal Arts field. No transcript is issued when a course is taken for enrichment. |
Final Exam Requirement
Final exams are given on the last day of each Term and may not be rescheduled to accommodate absences. Final exams are required for students seeking credit. Final exams are not required for students taking the course for enrichment.
Online Courses In Person Final Exam Requirement |
---|
An in person proctored online exam at Saint Francis is required for all online courses for credit. No exceptions will be made for proctored exams away from Saint Francis High School aside from documented illness. Final exams are not required for students taking the course for enrichment. |
Attendance Policy for Credit
In order to receive credit for a course, a student may be absent no more than 1 day per semester class and must be present on the day of the final exam. A student who has to leave early or arrives late will be given a tardy. Three tardies will result in an absence. If a student is more than 30 minutes late or leaves more than 30 minutes early, they will be credited with an absence.
If a student is taking the course for enrichment, there is no attendance policy.

My student attends Saint Francis and would like to take a course? Will they be granted credit?High School classes may not be taken by Saint Francis students to advance to the next level, except for Geometry and Trigonometry. All other classes can only be taken for Enrichment/Preview or Remediation/Credit Recovery. While we encourage Saint Francis students to take our courses for enrichment/preview, credit will not be granted except for approved Trigonometry and Geometry courses and courses taken for remediation or credit recovery. |
We encourage rising 9th grade Saint Francis students to take Lancers Rising courses instead of High School courses. If you want to take a level 3 world language course online, please contact your counselor.
