AP Exams will begin on Monday, May 4. We are looking forward to another very successful year of AP testing for all of our students. We will give over 2,000 exams in the next two weeks, so it’s very important for you individually to be prepared. Last year’s pass rate was 95% Study hard and do your best!
Below are a few reminders and consequences for the testing, especially important for the seniors in the tests. Please read the AP Exam Policies closely. The College Board used to send packets and now maintains everything digitally.
Where
Most exams will be administered in Burns Pavilion, but check the links below after reading this. If you have approved extended time through the College Board, please check in the Counseling Office for your location.
When
Please arrive on time for the testing – morning exams will begin at 8:00 a.m. and afternoon exams at 12:00 p.m. For your exams, please line up outside the doors of Burns by 7:45 a.m. for morning exams and by 11:45 a.m. for afternoon exams. Make two lines; A through L and M through Z to enter Burns. Listen to your proctors for instructions on seating. You do not choose your seat. There is construction on Grant next week, so leave extra time in the morning.
Important Information
- Come prepared for testing – bring sharpened pencils, pens, appropriate calculators. Do not bring any class material. You cannot access a cell phone during exams. For digital exams, bring your charged school-issued iPad with the downloaded bluebook app. If you have it already, make sure to open it now to allow it to get the most recent critical update. Know your College Board username and login. All of the world language exams happen on a different platform than Bluebook, so you will not see them there. More instructions will come about those specifically next week.
- Be sure to put yourself in a position for success – be prepared to take the test. This is a secured testing environment and you must behave accordingly. Cell phones must be off and placed in our storage sleeves. If you do not, you will be asked to leave the exam and report to the Dean’s Office at Saint Francis. If that happens, expect the following;
- The College Board must be notified – they will be given your name as a person who was asked to leave the test for violating the testing procedures.
- There will be no refund for the test.
- The Dean’s will treat this as a violation of test procedures which brings a 3 hour detention. You will have to take a final for the class instead.
- In addition, if you are a senior, the Deans explained to you that any serious violation will result in loss of senior privileges. This could include Senior Ball, Senior Picnic and Graduation Ceremony.
- Linked here is a list of items to bring and not to bring to your exams. Locations will also be posted outside of Counseling, the Dean’s Offices, and the Library, and the doors of Burns.
- NO FOOD or WATER will be allowed during the exam or in the testing room. Eat and hydrate ahead. If you plan to have a snack at the break, you must take that out of your backpack ahead of time and leave it in the hallway. No one will be allowed to access their backpack until dismissed from the exam.
Reminders
Faculty will be made aware of who will be taking AP exams and when. Please alert your teacher when you need to be released for an afternoon AP exam. If you have late lunch, you will eat early. When you complete a morning exam, please report to the Attendance office before returning to class. You are not done for the day after an exam. If you have been signed out for the day by a parent, you need to get a departure pass before leaving.
Communicate with your teachers. The second week of exams overlaps with final projects. Make a proactive plan with them about remaining assignments.
We know you are going to do brilliantly on the exams. Take a deep breath and relax – you’ll be done before you know it!
All the best on your exams!
