Our Recitals
Winter Dance Showcase
Every first semester, the Winter Dance Showcase gives students in dance classes and clubs the opportunity to produce a dance performance. Now in its fourth year at our school, the showcase has already become a cherished tradition. Open to students of all levels and backgrounds, the event features a variety of styles—including jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet, Folklorico, Bollywood, K-pop, and Tinikling.
UDC Recital
Unity Dance Crew’s Recital is the spring semester dance show featuring dance classes and clubs. As a completely student-run production, it allows students to create their own choreography, select their outfits, music, and lighting, and curate the program. The show honors senior dance students by giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents in a final solo performance. As an annual production, it represents the culmination of a tremendous amount of work from dance students on campus.
Biennial Band/Dance Concert
The first-ever band and dance concert took place in March 2024, uniting students from both band and dance classes. Participants performed in small ensembles and created original choreography set to the music played by their classmates. They also coordinated outfits, stage space, and tempo. It was a fun experience for everyone. Be on the lookout for next year's concert in 2026.
International Showcase
The International Showcase is a variety show hosted by the International Club. As the culminating event of Multicultural Week, students and clubs are invited to showcase their talents and ethnic backgrounds in any form they choose, such as singing, playing an instrument, reciting a poem, or dancing. Many dance clubs on campus participate and demonstrate dance styles from their cultures.
Our Courses
The courses offered are:
Dance 1 (Full Year) |
---|
This course is designed for all students, regardless of prior formal dance training. Throughout the course, you will develop body and kinesthetic awareness while building flexibility, stamina, and muscle tone. You will study a variety of dance genres—including jazz, hip hop, modern, contemporary, and Latin dances—and have the opportunity to learn and perform both individual and group pieces, as well as create original choreography. |
Dance 2 ( Semester) |
Dance 2 is designed for students with a formal dance background and has fulfilled the Dance 1 class requirement. In this course, students study a specific dance genre and analyze the work of a notable choreographer. Based on their research, they create an original dance piece that they will teach to their classmates. Throughout the process, students learn the art of choreography and discover what makes a dance shine on stage. |
