Saint Francis High School proudly announces that its 2025 volume of its yearbook, Poverello, has been selected for inclusion in Varsity Yearbook’s Portfolio, a national showcase recognizing the most outstanding yearbooks produced by the yearbook publisher.
The 2025 yearbook was selected from a competitive pool of more than 900 submissions. While 686 schools were chosen for Portfolio, Saint Francis achieved a higher distinction. It was one of just 62 schools featured in the Anthology section, honoring the best-of-the-best in scholastic journalism, innovative design and compelling storytelling.

Evaluators look for yearbooks that demonstrate excellence in writing and visual presentation, comprehensive and meaningful coverage, as well as exceptional photography.
“We are incredibly honored to be featured among the 62 top-tier yearbooks in the country,” said Stacy Dawson, yearbook advisor. “This recognition showcases the Poverello journalists' endless commitment to innovative storytelling and purposeful coverage, the cornerstones of the Saint Francis journalism program, that continuously strives to reflect the authentic and holistic experiences of the Lancer student body. I am so happy to see their talent and tireless dedication to serving the community celebrated in such a significant way.”
This recognition is the third year that work by Saint Francis student journalists has been recognized. Last year, the Poverello received a Top 10% recognition for the 2024 volume, and two years ago, the staff was honored with the best-of-the-best honor for the 2023 book.
