Congratulations to the staff of the Poverello yearbook!
They attended the spring National High School Journalism Convention, held in Minneapolis, a valuable learning experience for the Lancers. “This trip provided Saint Francis students with an unmatchable experience to learn new skills, advance existing ones, and network with other programs, colleges, and media professionals,” said yearbook adviser Stacy Dawson.
In addition, students were recognized for their work, receiving 17 awards, the most ever received by Saint Francis. Their work stood out among more than 1500 high school journalists from 500 schools.
National Student Media Contests — Superior = 1st place, Excellent = 2nd place, Honorable Mention = 3rd place — only the top third of students competing in any category are eligible for an award. Students are judged on a rubric and advanced based on accumulated points, then evaluated and awarded relative to the pool of high-scoring entries.
